Dear Gymnastics Family,
The new year 2023 has begun.
The world is now in a vortex of great change.
People’s values have changed with COVID-19 and conflicts in Europe.
What is certain is that many past norms will not be the norm in the future.
I believe that the past “age of material wealth” will change to “the age of real wealth”. That’s because human beings have learned that “the pursuit of material wealth” leads to the “destruction of peace”.
And the “destruction of peace” will encourage the “widening gap between rich and poor” and the world will fall into further turmoil in the years to come.
How will the future change?
We must plan for the “invisible future”.
It is important to create a system that enables us to cope with the future to come, including communication tools, training tools, competition formats, etc.
The past is the past, not the future.
On the other hand, some things will never change.
One of these is the FIG’s policy.
This is our policy: “Through Gymnastics, we make people healthier and contribute to society”. It is our policy that is the light that shines in the darkness when we feel insecure.
As President of the International Gymnastics Federation, I wish the Gymnastics Family a Happy New Year and hope that together we will “meet the challenges of our future” with the pride of making a “contribution to society”.
